The operations were conducted in response to a series of ‘cowardly terrorist activities’ targeting civilians on August 26, according to the ISPR.
In a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out by security forces across Balochistan’s Kech, Panjgur, and Zhob districts, at least five terrorists were killed, and three others were injured, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday. These operations are part of a broader strategy to track down the perpetrators responsible for recent terror attacks in the region.
The ISPR revealed that these operations were launched in response to a wave of “cowardly terrorist activities” targeting civilians in Balochistan on August 26. The statement emphasized that the security forces are relentlessly pursuing those involved in these acts of violence. “On the night of August 29-30, in three separate IBOs in District Kech, Panjgur, and Zhob, five terrorists were sent to hell by the security forces, while three terrorists got injured during the intense fire exchange,” the ISPR stated.
These operations underscore the ongoing efforts by the security forces to neutralize terrorist elements in Balochistan, a province that has been marred by insurgency and violence for years. The ISPR added that sanitization operations would continue across the region until all those involved in these heinous acts are brought to justice. The military’s media wing reaffirmed its commitment to peace and stability in Balochistan, noting, “The forces, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability, and progress of Balochistan.”
The recent operations are part of a broader campaign against terrorist elements in Balochistan, following a series of deadly attacks in the province. On August 26, a particularly gruesome attack occurred in the Rarasham area of Balochistan’s Musakhail district, where at least 23 passengers were brutally killed after being offloaded from buses and trucks by militants. This attack sent shockwaves across the country and highlighted the persistent security challenges in the region.
In another incident that further strained the security situation in Balochistan, at least 10 people, including police officers and Balochistan Levies personnel, were martyred in a gun attack in the Kalat district. These attacks underscore the grave security threats facing the region, which has witnessed an upsurge in violence in recent months.
In response to these escalating threats, security forces have intensified their operations, resulting in significant casualties on both sides. In addition to the operations in Kech, Panjgur, and Zhob, other clearance operations across Balochistan have led to the martyrdom of 14 security personnel, including 10 soldiers and four members of law enforcement agencies. Despite these losses, the security forces have succeeded in neutralizing at least 21 militants in these operations, dealing a significant blow to terrorist networks operating in the region.
The recent spate of violence and the subsequent military response highlight the ongoing struggle to establish lasting peace in Balochistan. The province, rich in natural resources, has long been a focal point of insurgency, with various militant groups vying for control and influence. The security forces’ operations aim to dismantle these networks and restore order in the region, but the path to peace remains fraught with challenges.
As the operations continue, the security forces remain vigilant, determined to eradicate the terrorist threat in Balochistan. The ISPR’s statement emphasizes the resolve of both the military and the nation to protect the province from further violence. “We will continue our mission to ensure the safety and security of our citizens and to preserve the stability of Balochistan,” the statement concluded.
