Elon Musk’s xAI introduces Grok-2: A new image generation tool with less regulation.

Grok-2, along with Grok-2 Mini, is accessible to X users who have ‘Premium’ or ‘Premium+’ subscriptions.

On Wednesday, Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, xAI, launched the beta version of its newest AI assistant, Grok-2. This advanced image generation tool positions itself as a competitor to OpenAI’s DALL-E and Google’s Gemini.

Grok-2 distinguishes itself by placing fewer restrictions on the types of images it can generate, including those featuring political figures and copyrighted brands, setting it apart from its rivals.

The new model, Grok-2, enhances its predecessor, Grok 1.5, with upgraded capabilities for generating both text and images.

Early adopters of Grok-2 have produced images featuring notable political figures, including former US President Donald Trump with handguns and Vice President Kamala Harris dressed in military attire.

Additionally, Grok-2 has generated images of well-known brands and copyrighted characters, such as The Simpsons and Tom and Jerry, leading to discussions about the model’s minimal restrictions.

Elon Musk has positioned Grok as a less regulated alternative to current AI tools, criticizing OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini for their perceived biases.
