The summit comes in response to a significant global IT outage caused by a faulty update from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, which affected nearly 8.5 million Windows devices on July 19. This incident led to widespread operational disruptions across various industries, including airlines, banks, and healthcare facilities.

The upcoming conference marks Microsoft’s first substantial effort to address the consequences of the July 19 outage and to discuss strategies for enhancing cybersecurity systems.
